The Lake District - Uncut

By ade_mcfade
Most shots of the lakes are pretty chocolate box oriented, nice warm shots of that bridge near Derwent Water, long shots of the various valleys, huge hill top vistas... but in reality, it's a dark and usually wet place that is ideal for brooding skies and dark shots.

This is one taken from the banks of buttermere looking towards Honister Pass - only 10 minutes before my last Butteremere offering.

I used the fence to point straight at the waterfall on the far hill - can just make out the little whit line on the 1000 pixel shot I think.

well this one's taken about 30 minutes after yesterday's honister shot - see how things change up there!!!

Smile

no sun to speak of that day, therefore no sunset - you're safe

Wasn't sure about this until I opened up the large version - but then! Love the brooding atmosphere and the gritty quality.

Cheers Dinda - can't bring myself to type "BEST VIEWED LARGE" even when I know it's a true statment!

trying to show the different aspects of the lakes in this series... mainly because we so so many of them in the 3 days up there!

Great atmosphere, but that would not be effective without the spot on composition. Bill.

Okay, I'm using my eyes. And I can see the waterfall. Good job not blocking the shoreline with the fence. And I like the rock in front too.
