Two things strike me immediately. It would be better lit and I'm left wondering what it is next to on the wall.

Competition-wise it's going to be easily forgotten. Sorry.

Mario, I think I have to agree with Keith - the lamp is too central and the item next to it arouses curiousity - what's there? Try to compose a bit differently and it will likely have more impact. About it being lit, I'm not sure - depends on how the light would register in the picture and whether it would be a simple circle of over-exposure.

One more thing - try to avoid having the reflections in the glass showing that much - can you use a large, diffuse light source on this lamp and block all other light-sources? Is this indoor or outdoors?

Regardless, good luck.

Vintage, is that why you used mono. Unfortunately all the colours have equated to a series of very similar greys and thus a dull image. If you want mono, try a dark brown sepia, but colour and a bit of brightening will help. A lack of impact will not help a competition entry.

When I was judging I had a quick look through every image to see which made me look twice. They were the ones that got through to the second viewing. This is too dull. Being lit could make all the difference, but too late for that.

Hi,

Thanks to all for your constructive critique. The competition is in Monochrome that's why I have left it in Black&white. I took this picture in a Vintage museum so I couldn't lit the lamp on. I had no lights to diffuse light source on this lamp and block all other light-sources. Regarding the right thing next to the lamp I totally agree with your comments. I will try and improve my image on your critique. Thanks again appreciated your critique. dusfim

Hi, you can exclude the other object on the right by croping it, and the benefit will be double as the lamp will move to the right a bit, as much as the rule of thirds applies. The reflections on the glass of the lamp have to be reduced as well, it becomes obvious that the lamp is way well light by modern means now, you can't project the idea of vintage with all the modern lighting falling on it.
