For me this loses so much in it's conversion Si,that fabulous warm light has gone Sad
I still like the composition & subject.
This looks toned to me with a slight magenta/blueish colour cast to it,should it be as you haven't mentioned it in your description ?.....could well be my monitor though,a new one just newly calibrated, not settled yet.
Great surroundings.

Hi Janet, yes has been toned..think it suits mono as well as colour but has a different flavour to it.

Regards Si.

Both this and the original colour version have their own merits. In the original the bg detail was more evident, and was a more prominent part of the image, sharing the limelight with the figure, and enabling us to see the work he is involved in.
In this conversion, the focus is more centred on the man himself, and his surroundings fade away into the bg more.
I like both equally, and both are worthy of their own upload.

Yes this is about the man and he really jumps out of the picture rather than is as much a part of it as he is in the coloured version
Both work very well Smile

Excellent as always Simon. Just one niggle, in mono the light bit on the LHS pulls the eya away from the image a bit.
