The Lighthouse

By Fefe
On my last Day to night upload a very well regarded EPZ member wondered how the image would look with the white balance left as shot.
Here is the upload if you want to check it out.
Please view large.
Now I did try to rework that image but it did not work in that image, but I have tried it out on this shot and I think it works well.

This is Steephill Cove near Ventnor Isle of Wight, and the hexagon shaped Chalet is called the 'Lighthouse'.

I don't want to spoil the mood of the image, but there were loads of visitors wandering about in the dark here WinkTongueTongue

The version is the original image with basic tweaks.

Thank you all so much for recent C&C and UA's GrinGrinGrin

Nicely done Diane, except the "moon" doesn't look right, more like a search light on the clouds. Nevertheless an improvement on the original, much more atmosphere.

Very good work Diane. The moon does bother me a bit though. Maybe just a little less bright.

I like this one better, Diane. There's a more credible drama to this and the overall effect is not as obvious as in the previous, excellent day-to-night images.
A very interesting comparison.👍

It's one of the most perfect spots on the Island; we were enjoying it a day or to ago. The people who live in that house are incredibly lucky. I do admire your day to night conversions, they're brilliant.

The original is good but your conversion is superb. Not sure about the moon but I do like the reflection on the water and slipway that you have created. The inclusion of stars is a nice touch and the lit windows are again very well done. I do like the way you have brightened the windows in the lighthouse facing the moon as reflected moonlight and subdued the ones not facing the moon.
(Still not found a way to do this with my software despite your detailed explanation, but will keep trying)

Your day to night faffing has worked very well here, Diane, and does look more natural, rather like 'Surrey with The Fringe on Top' upload than the 'Moonshine' on Henrietta Street 😃 It's good to see what the original looks like too 👍 Must have another go these... 😀

Remarkable Diane.
To me, the lead is a much more powerful image.
