The Lion and the Serpent 3

By pamelajean
Kingston Lacy is a country house and estate near Wimborne Minster, Dorset, England, now owned by the National Trust.

This is some detail of one of the two matching c19 bronze lions fighting snakes by Claude-Francois Comperot (1786-1869) that are either side of the grand doors that lead from the stately home into the rear garden.

Although the lion is killing the snake, itís surprising how different this looks from a different angle. Itís almost as if the lion is fondling the snake rather than killing it, or as if they are having a conversation.

(Shown here in 2015 as a version).

With thanks to all who looked, voted and commented, and especially those who gave User Awards to my previous upload, Gaillardia.

Pamela.

Very nice shot with the estate in the b.g. I always enjoy the history of the photos, as it adds so much to the reason for taking it. Thank you!

From the angle you have captured the statue, the lion does not very fierce, almost as if he is caressing the snake. I like the composition, with the lion in focus, and the background thrown out of focus.

The lion certainly appears to be caressing the snake from your angle Pamela.
