The location

By mrswoolybill
The location for yesterday's upload. (The mattresses are piled up on the left in the main upload.)
Two old social club premises have been lying empty for years by Blaydon roundabout. I have looked down on them hundreds of times from the bus and thought - I can't see any fencing round that lot...
We finally got round to exploring recently. This is the Grand Entrance to one of the clubs. It's a fine building, it deserves a bit more dignity.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

The dead buildings cannot cry out for justice. It is the duty of the living souls to do so for them.

A fine set, Moira. There were a couple like this in my area and they've since been converted into apartments which is better then letting them rot away.

Well photographed Moira. As photographers we are often attracted to decaying buildings but I find it sad that this one is in such a state; both from a social and from an architectural point of view.

The power that be will leave this till it's past saving and blame cuts and the government will blame councils for wasting money and then the building will fall down and there will be an outcry and nothing will be done.

I suppose they're no longer sociable in Blaydon then.

They've got a drive-through McDonalds, a tanning parlour and an amusement arcade - what more do you need?

A tattoo parlour of course. And at least five betting shops.

Always sad to see buildings that many enjoy a good night out in this state - but it does make for interesting photography 👍

What a waste. I agree with Dougie....it needs to be saved. Does the historical trust only save the posh buildings?
I think in this area, we have learned a lesson, some of the towns and cities in my state are trying to recondition the business buildings on the Main streets with quite a bit of success. They have been repurposed into living space, new businesses and art and dance venues.

A "des res?" TV and on-line-streaming has a lot to answer for. When the new drink and driving limits came in there was a sharp drop-off in our Golf Club sales as we were about two miles out of town.

Always a shame to see these places abandoned and left to go derelict, although they are intriguing to explore, I have always wanted to break into Clipstone colliery to explore and take photos.
