The Malverns

By DicksPics
Today’s upload is a shot of The Malvern Hills, taken from just below the summit of the Worcestershire Beacon( altitude 1394 ft) looking towards the The British Camp or Herefordshire Beacon, an Iron Age Hill Fort, altitude 1110 ft.

It is very much a contre jour image and I have struggled to make it anywhere near to what I consider to be presentable - I hope you like it!Smile

In the distance can be seen the Eastnor Obelisk which is close to Midsummer Hill.

I once walked from where this image was taken to the obelisk and back - on a Sunday in 1985!!
The walk had to finish well before 2 o'clock as the pubs closed early in those days!

Many, much appreciated thanks for all clicks and comments on my ‘Feeling’ upload with special mentions to Billy(williamsloan), Tish(Tish1), Patty(pentaxpatty), Jenn(taggart) and Alan(Alan_Baseley) for their coveted User Awards.

I hope you've all had an enjoyable weekend.

OK so I had to Google 'contre jour' and now I know what it means GrinGrinBlush. Your technique has paid dividends here Richard, giving us a spectacular taste of the views from this magnificent location. I've driven through, but have never been up. You've got my eyes gliding through this image, drinking in those beautiful forrest tones.

I like the focal recession, like 3 different planes, with the foreground nice and sharp, it gives so much depth to the scene. Looks presentable to meSmile.

Happy memories I'm sure of wonderful walks.
Scenery looks amazing and you had your reward at the end with that visit to the pub.
I love the conifers on mountain side.

I think it is a most impressive shot from a high vantage point, so much so that one can see and follow the paths along the ridge in both middle and far distances.
Love the atmosphere created by the lighting.

Excellent, ****, in every way! It looks so natural that you wouldn't have realised that you had had to work on it at all! Well done and well done to all the walking you did when "thou were no'but a lad!" Eh? (Wrong accent for you I know but I "cor" do a Black Country one for this!)
