The netty door

By mrswoolybill
Netty is Geordie for outside toilet. In the heart of our town centre there's a short terrace of former miners' houses, backing onto a narrow alley. The row of netties remains, on the opposite side of the alley. They are only used as sheds now. As far as I know...
Continuing my experiments with simulating bleach bypass film processing, which I think works well for the textures of peeling paint. Two separate frames here.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

EDIT - Rather late in the day, I have added a further version, one of the North East's best-loved paintings: The Westoe Netty by Robert Olley.

We called them "Dunnys" when I was a kid - ours was non flushing with torn up squares of newspaper (the Radio Times had the softest paper).
Great textures and processing Moira - gets my UA for the memories.

Could happen. I got rather side-tracked by bleach bypass but I may go back...

Fab textures Moira, all that wonderful peeling paint !
I have a very slight preference for your V1, including the invasion of nature from the Ivy pushing its way through the gap.

I didn't know that but just reading the title I sort of guessed.

There had to be some way of keeping the air fresh in the old days...

Memories of one roll of Izal toilet roll per week for a family of six and when that ran out it was the Sheffield Star newspaper there after....and a torch, or candle if the battery was dead.
Happy days..............

Two very apeeling images, Moira! Think I slightly favour the lead. It certainly is a well-suited subject for using Bleach Bypass 😃👍

Great captures love them both, all that peeling paint and textures with nature trying to take over. A Geordie friend of ours used to say " There's nay netties down the pit."
