What a great image Dave and one phone I didn't work on way back for GPO.
I love the image but for me overall a little bright. A quick tip I use is to duplicate your black and white layer, then change the blend to
"Mutiply " and reduce the opacity down in this case 58%. I uploaded the the mod and nothing else has been changed so you can compare.
What I like about this tip is it tones it down but keeps the light. Just tools for the future...

Great old stuff, right up my street and I wish I owned that beautiful telephone.
Although a touch bright in some places, I do prefer the colour version just because of the colours on the pages of that ledger in the fg.
Its always difficult in a museum or Art Gallery to get the light where you want it, looking at the change from light on the right to the darker LHS, I would have gone for an HDR image here or simply 2 exposures combined, much like a landscape with a very bright sky and a dark fg.
I do covet that phone and the wonderful typewriter too.
