The Oldest Things You Will Ever See

By SlowSong
Just a record shot taken at the Natural History Museum in London in my favourite gallery where they keep all the rocks and crystals etc. I find geology and fossils particularly interesting, and for me this exhibit is totally fascinating.
V2 is the blurb that goes with it which is a bit fuzzy because the glass was so dirty!

Thank you for looking, and for your c&cs on my faded roses.
Chris

I don't relish the thought of rocks like that dropping out of the sky - diamonds would be OK though.Smile
Interesting image and good info.

Geology and paleontology hold the same fascination for me. I'm so glad you posted this -- especially with the explanation posted by the museum.
This is a nice example of what photography is all about.

We have a Natural History museum in Norway that has an exhibit in the basement with many similar things on display. They have been renovating the past couple of years, so I've been disappointed to not get back in there to see the displays. I'm told it will be finished by next summer when I'm in Norway again.

Speaking as someone who owns a genuine (and complete) dinosaur egg - it's about the size of a football - I am into really old things. Good to see this, Chris. The Natural History Museum is one of those places that everybody must visit before they shuffle off this mortal coil.
