I decided to visit the little village of Alkborough, North Lincolnshire on Sunday. I had been there the evening before and photographed a turf maze, so i decided to return the following morning and take a walk furthur out along a public footpath leading out a mile and a quarter past some mud flats hoping to return at the start point.
Unfortunately for me, that wasn't to be. I photographed this signpost which was exactly a mile and a quarter from the village, then decided to walk out furthur. However, after another half mile or so, I came to a gate which stated no entry due to vertical drop. I had to make a choice... . a: walk all the way back from where i came.... b: climb over the gate and risk life and limb.... c: climb over a nearby fence and walk through a field to a distant track where i had seen a minibus moments before... ...
So, i took choice "c". After another half hour or so, i had crossed the field and walked a couple of hundred yards along the track to finally meet up with a group of people who had been on the minibus. I asked how to get back to the starting point and was told I'd taken a wrong turn somewhere, so if i wanted to, i could join them on the bus and ride back with them.. ... what a relief.. ..! They also told me that i wasn't supposed to go that far out and that i'd be a little stuck if the tide came in... ... ... thankfully, i managed to get home safe to enjoy a nice cuppa with chocolate flapjacks and had some pix to work on too..!
Thanks for looking!
