The Painting

By devlin
This one is from my trip to Leeds in September last year, these are the locks just opposite the Mint Hotel. Again V1 is the tonemapped version have tried to give it the look and feel of a painting. V2 is the original unedited version

The subject matter is well suited to tone mapping - a nice image - Carole

A lovely image, which in my humble opinion did not need the HDR makeover, but then again upon 'reflection' putting it alongside the original image, maybe you were right.

Regards Nathan

PS if I knew how to modify your image, I would have a go in HDR.

Again Prabh, it's a bit much for me and although I have absolutely no idea how to do it, (I think that!) I can see that it's been very well done!

Bizarrely, looking at your recent images and having the whole weekend to myself (and the dog), the family are visiting 'Granddad,' I feel inclined to have a go at one or two of these myself!

Perhaps, I'll hunt out a tutorial.

This image is tailor made for HDR to bring out the detail but sadly in this case it is overdone. Once you start to get fringing between high contrast areas ( buildings and sky) it is a sure sign you have gone too far with the processing. With HDR less is more. If you have mods enabled I will
Upload a mod.

Hi Prabh,

I think, like already said, this image could work well with a HDR effect it also works well as a painting in fact Prabh it's the sort of image that lends it's self to a lot of different styles including B&W. It's a well balanced image with good reflections, your eye is made to start on the left before following the canal and buildings through the image. A good image should give you a starting point and not only allow you eye to wonder into it but should also make you want to enter and find out whats there, keeping your interest, and this does. Well done.
I 've posted two mods, one in a HDR style and one in a Painting style, see what you think.

Take care
