The Palace, Isola Bella (1)

By TrevBatWCC
Having landed on Isola Bella, we had included on our boat trip out to there entry into the Palazzo Borromeo, which occupies the northern part of the island. Until 1632 the island was a rocky crag occupied by a tiny fishing village, but that year Carlo III of the influential House of Borromeo began the construction of a Palazzo dedicated to his wife, Isabella D'Adda, from whom the island takes its name.
These are the first few images taken in there. Loved that beautiful harpsichord, which dates back to the 1700s, on trying to remember what the sign in front of it said, so it had to be in lead position. The room in V2 had more framed paintings than wall area!

Raw images processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Nik Collection's Viveza 2 and Photoshop Elements 14.

Thanks again to everyone for your vote & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging 👍

Very well taken. But my first reaction was - fancy having to dust that lot!

It is indeed opulent as leo_nid has said: fine set of interior shots from this Palace, all captured in excellent detail and so carefully exposed.

Living in rooms like that would drive me potty! I guess it was the very height of extravagance and the way to show off how much money (and presumably good taste?) you had back then...

We went to Osborne House on our annual trip to the IOW this year, not looked at the images I took in detail yet.....I hope they are this good!............I doubt it very muchTongue
Doesn't it make you wonder how they keep it all so clean?

I, on the other hand, absolutely love it. The elaborate furniture, heavy gilt frames, patterned chairs and carpet, and that amazing scene on the harpsichord, Wow! That's what 20 years in the antiques trade has done to me.

Trevor, I don't mean to be picky but the bloke in Version 2 looks nothing like Liberace. Just saying! Wink
