The photographer and his wife - c.1895

By HobbitDave
An old photograph c.1895-1900 that I have been restoring in iPads Photo Editor. I have no idea who they were, or where it was taken, but love the idea of going into business with a plate camera, while your wife sells fruit! It would have been an ideal little cottage industry once established

Enterprising couple - wonder what they'd think if they knew this image was still around!

It's a pity we don't know who they were or what they did (apart from what we see of course, we don't know if he was a professional or hobbyist photographer). There could be long lost family who'd like this.

Fascinating....I wonder who they are?
I have some old photos of people and no idea who they are (in with family photos) but anyone who would know are no longer here.
Good Work Dave!

Love it Dave. Cathy
Great old photograph Dave. Would they have had to stand still for a while? It must have seemed like magic photography to them then. Its a snippet of history Dave. Debs

It would have been quite a long time exposure I think, Debs, hence the rather ‘stiff’ poses, especially of the woman. Yes, the magic of the plate camera, 1895’s version of say a very expensive DSLR!
Dave 🙂
