The Portico vine

By mrswoolybill
Metalwork on a pergola in Wallington's West Wood. This is the back of the leaf, I liked the light catching the edges. This was taken for b&w, I knew it would work from this angle, although I shall upload colour later in the week.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Great shot and one that shows very few edges are crisp sharp. In most cases there is an amout of light leakage around the edge that gives a softer edge. Something to remember with composite images...

Fine mono,Moira. I Like the light rims on the leaf and the stalks.

Very true.
Recently I even resorted to softening the edges of a sculpture in a straight shot, no composite - just because without that light on the very edge the outline looked unnaturally crisp and cut-out...
Thanks everyone.

I think the slightly simpler composition compared to the earlier one gives a more eye-catching result, for me at least.
But will colour add anything?

Time will tell. But I think it works. Wink

The composition and lack of colour in this version works better for me - I especially found the green hedge in the first image a distraction.

For the second image in a row, your verticals are all over the place...Wink

I like the rim-lighting on the metalwork, Moira. Truly "withered on the vine"
