The Repair Shop III

By chase
Firstly, sorry to folk that voted or commented on my first image with this title, I poofed it, just didn't look right Sad
Here is the replacement.
I tried out the DXO software I won in a recent competition, I quite like the film effect I found.
The original was lit by daylight, converted to mono in Nik Silver then faffed with.
A bit different for me but when you get a new bit of software, you gotta try it out Wink

Thanks for getting here, or re-visiting.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.

Think I preferred the first version Janet. I suppose it depends how we perceive different versions of the same image. This one would look great i think at a Whitby Steampunk festival or similar, it has that sharp and gritty edge. I like it very much but the earlier one was softer for me and had nicely balanced muted colours. Love the little Kodak Autographic camera!

I think in this version, the effects have overtaken the content slightly too much. There's a lack of detail on the clock innards on the right, which I feel is better in the original colour version.
For overall effect, this works well, but for studying closer, then the colour is preferable...
But as you rightly say, you have to experiment with new toys, anything else just isn't fun.Wink

Thanks all.
Angela, fab to have your UA thank you.
Fair and a good point Malc, but sometimes you just gotta play with new stuff, see what it does.
I was unsure of this myself so the water has been tested Wink
