The Response

By mrswoolybill
Newcastle's magnificently humane memorial to the dead of the Great War.
I normally avoid selective colour, it has become too much of a cliché. Look what I can do... But here, the monument is dark bronze and stone, removing the faint traces of colour simplifies our response, I think.
Remembrance Sunday here is taking a somewhat unusual form. I shall upload some pictures tomorrow...
Thanks for looking,
Moira

A wonderful piece of work, Moira, both the sculpture and your presentation of it, works perfectly 👍
Trev 😀
The memorial is striking in itself but the scarlet poppies throw the image into another dimension Moira.
Great use of a tool that enhances the whole feel of the sculpture with the stark faces.

Remembrance Sunday is the Sunday before 11th November, the WW1 Armistice Day.
Thanks to everyone who has called in here, and to Phil for adding his UA.

No cliche effect here ...just great photography Moira. Stellar work .
We were at our 3500 white cross memorial today for our province's war dead and we were viewing names as young as 16 and as old as 68
As an old freind used to say " my blood is rare ..dont shoot ...it's red
Best regards walt
