The Sheep

By arhab
I'm not sure if the composition work, Do you think the plant power in the background can united with the sheep. Any comment welcome, thank you.

I like the idea of this, two totally different worlds co-existing side by side. In principle I also like the use of portrait, where the eye naturally moves up and down the frame and so between the two worlds. But unfortunately the lower part of the frame is largely wasted space, it has very little interest compared with higher up. The textures alone don't really do it for me. You needed some sheep nearer to the camera for this to really work in this format.
I'd be inclined to crop - but maybe first to cheat and move a few textures and twigs higher up in the frame. That would compress the narrative into a more concise area. Will have a go and see if it works.

I've uploaded a very quick Mod - I moved some of stronger grass detail and textures higher in the frame, then cropped to square. Then I used the burn tool over the foreground. I wanted to replicate the effect of a slightly lower viewpoint, to make more of the sense that we are looking through the vegetation towards the sheep, with the industrial site immediately behind - to move the elements closer together in a smaller area. See if you think it adds anything.

Thank you Moira, your modification is really good and i really like the effect of a slightly lower viewpoint. And your choice of square format make this image more better. Tongue
