A stunning landscape with just the right shutter speed to convey a sense of motion in the water.

It came across on both my (lcd) screens as having a little too much magenta so I've uploaded a mod. Getting these screens to show a 'correct' spectrum is a problem and I don't care to spend money on monitor calibration software.

Cheers,

Hmmmm, pink.... And the other of Rannoch Moor pink as wel....
Are you finding the feminine side of yourself, Goggz? Smile

Think there could be a problem just with processing the RAW files. In Capture One (I use the LE version), you can add magnenta or lessen it with a slider which is found in the White Balance tab. Maybe it is a setting like this which is turned on?

The pic is pretty light on my monitor here - yeah, I am exploring my 'darker' side... A tiny bit darker and the pink will be just a part of the overall image and add a sense of mystery.

I love the overall image. Some good alternatives there in the mods section too. Like Mand's version.

Still a good shot. Oh, and I rather like some of the mods as well.

Fair enough Jacqueline. I'll give it a try again. My monitor is calibrated so there shouldn't be a problem there. Perhaps I've done something in Lightroom that has made it this way. Anyhow, it seems as though you all think it's passable. Thanks for that Smile

And thanks Mand, Accystan, Looboss & Newy17 for the mods. Some interesting points in there, with changes to channels etc. Things I'd never think of!

Tremendous capture Pete... tremendous movement in the water!!! Can't help you with the colour issues as I'm partially colour blind... but I think a mono version would solve your problem!!! Wink

One thing I'd forgotten about (and you reminded me of it Katy with your sunny smile) is that this was shot into the "sun". I wonder if I'm just making the tinge more obvious in the processing...

Anyway, off to bed now - no more fiddling Wink

Ta Wooly! An excellent mod too!

Here is what Alan wrote on his mod (No: 6):

Quote:Couldn't resist having a tweak at this cracking image.

Converted it to 16bit LAB mode.

Adjusted the a&b channels to kill the colour cast and masked out the f/g

Used a very fine blur brush on the right edge of the mountain.

Gave the L channel a contast curve and killed some of that in the f/g

Added a touch more USM just to the L channel and again masked a touch of that in the f/g

Interesting stuff. This is probably what confuses me the most about photoshop - there are so many different ways to skin the cat!

There may be a slight cast but it's still a stunning shot. Might be worth tweaking the curves a touch to bring out the mood.

Sorry Jacqueline, I've thrown my hands up in despair... every time I think I've got it right I get some horrible pink cast or another crappy end result. I've figured out the weird stuff on the right of the mountain - that is chromatic aberration and I've sorted it out in LR2 with -7 red/cyan & +21 blue/yellow, with defringe off. As soon as I try and do a second layer and Multiply, it seems to bring it back with a vengeance. All I want to achieve is a nice moody sky and a normal looking foreground.

However, when I get the image loaded into CS3 and start playing around with it, I can't help thinking that I should have done a 3 stop bracket, so that I can get it right by doing an HDR, instead of continuing with the -1EV original file that I have. In other words, I am cheesed off trying to convert a pigs ear into a silk purse...

Perhaps I should do a single exposure, three stop HDR... anyway, I have a whole bottle of 13% Cabernet Sauvignon (Calloway Crossing Smile ) floating around in my bloodstream at the moment and I'm in no mood to do anything constructive. I'll try again later today (tomorrow).

Hic! Goggz Smile

p.s. thanks for all the mods and constructive comments gals & guys... we need to get this nailed so I learn something...

Peace & LOve to all Smile
