By philtaylorphoto
A severe Covid 19 lockdown has been imposed on Bolton. Pubs, bars, restaurants and close contact beauty services have been forced to close by the government.

Somebody's livelihood... But my sympathy for such businesses was reduced when the owner of a NE tanning studio argued that her business should be treated as an 'essential service' alongside food retailers, pharmacies and hardware shops...
One thing that lockdown threw into sharp relief is the extent to which our economy is dependent on people being seduced into buying random, useless stuff. Read Das Kapital, Marx identified that over 150 years ago.
Soapbox moment over...

What an emphatic moment for someone's livelihood. Closing down their store... I know your picture was taken whilst having the severe lockdown rules in mind.

In the unknown state of Un-topia where all people regardless of sex, skin colour or religious belief are equal and enjoy peace, the frame that contains the gesture you two (shopowner and photographer) alone know of closing down the store can be read as opening the store for business as well. And in a funny way, that I repeat solely based on gesture, a word that I have only found in English: "shoplifting".

May we have a recovery from Covid fairly soon, I've read in Costa Rica plasma from blood of horses which developed immunity to SARS-2 COVID will be used to produce immunisation jabs which have low cost and will be hopefully distributed to other Latin America poor nations. Amen.

I suppose if you are black, and have hair, products to keep it in good shape are fairly essential.

Town is a total media circus today, AFP, Getty, PA, Reuters. I suppose I'm to blame for highlighting it.

Hopefully if everyone sticks to the new rules, especially the young, we will get some freedom.

Wear a mask (it keeps the screen on the camera back from misting up).

Essential services? In parts of Liverpool mobile nail technicians, brow shapers, lip plumpers and fake tan sprayers are allowed blue lights and sirens on their car.

In Bolton the drug dealers could probably apply for them. During the earlier lockdown they were the only cars on the road.

It's crazy what some people regard as 'essential'.
They should read up on Maslow's Hierarchy. Fat chance of that or having any grasp of it if they do.
Dear reader, you can work out 'they' for yourselves.

Well, the lucky ones on full pay seem to have saved loads of money during the pandemic. Probably not spending it on non essential.stuff.

That said, around Bolton I can see the siege mentality coming in with some shopping. Better stock up on loo roll. I'll leave the braids out, as I usually have a #2 cut.
