The stupa of Ama Dablam

By ovi
From my trek to the Everest Base Camp last year (2011)-Himalaya: this is mount Ama Dablam (6812m) from southwest and a stupa at its bottom.
Stupa (from Sanskrit-literally meaning "heap") is a mound-like structure containing Buddhist relics, typically the remains of Buddha, used by Buddhists as a place of worship.

Ama Dablam means "Mother's necklace"; the long ridges on each side like the arms of a mother (ama) protecting her child, and the hanging glacier thought of as the dablam, the traditional double-pendant containing pictures of the gods, worn by Sherpa women-from Wikipedia.

I recognised the outline of this peak from books on climbing I have read: an excellent mountain landscape with extra interest with your chosen f/g inclusion, and accompanied by an interesting and informative narrative.
