The stylish woman & the new Milan skyline

By bliba
On the occasion of Expo Milano 2015, the largest inner-city construction project in Europe was carried out in Milan and has changed the face of Milan on a large scale.

From Garibaldi railway station to Piazza della Repubblica, the new Milan skyline has been created.

The Palazzo Lombardia complex is one of the tallest buildings in Milan at 161.3 m and is the seat of the Lombardy regional government.

Architecture prize 2014 for the "Bosco Verticale" high-rise buildings
The two high-rise buildings "Bosco Verticale" (Version 3) by Italian architect Stefano Boeri and builder Manfredi Catella have won the prize for the best high-rise buildings, which is donated jointly by the City of Frankfurt am Main, the Deutsches Architektur-Museum and Deka-Bank.

The two apartment buildings in the new Porta Nuova district of Milan have terraces with trees and shrubs that are supplied by an ecological irrigation system that uses filtered wastewater.

L'ultima volta che era a Milano - 2002.

So I did not recognize these buildings. Had a quick look on Google Earth to see where they are. How that area has changed. I can remember getting a taxi to the station and it was nothing like that. That area of Milan looks all the better for modernisation.

Photographically, I think the stylish woman balances the picture nicely.

Some great architectural images. I like V3 best of all, but to my eye looks still under construction but that is modern architecture for you! Lead image was a close second with good composition and super mono tones.

"And this is me in my new clothes", as she takes a selfie! Great candid capture, and like the abstract shapes and curves in V1 & V2. I thought too, as Ian says, the building in V3 does look like it's still under construction! But it is eye-catching and different from many boring looking buildings 👍
