The Three Old Birds

By rhion
Well, we're having to get a bit of a move on as I'm away on hols a week today so we've got a few more Morecambe scenes to cram in before then.
I saw these (not so old) ladies having a good chinwag on the Stone Jetty in Morecambe and couldn't resist lining up the "Mythical Bird" by Gordon Young to give an impression of the bird "earwigging" on their conversationSmile
Not the finest photographically perhaps but it made me smile and I hope it heralds a good weekend for us all.

Made me smile its just as if the bird is having a good old earwig on whats going on.

These type of pictures quite often work better in b+w they have more impact.

Great stuff R...

Thanks Julie. Yes, the colour one distracted a bit from the subject (or so I felt).
Here I am just sitting minding my own business when a chap in a sombrero just walks passed the window - and that isn't something you see every day in Lancaster's suburbia!

This is a nice relaxed and humorous scene Richard, as mentioned the title is spot-on, you 've got the angle just right to see the bird with his head slightly turned as if listening, I was going to attempt a mod but can't top Annís red jumper and blue eye, well done, Adrian

As soon as I saw that bird in the middle on the thumbprint, I thought "Richard".
I wonder what he heard to make him pull THAT face!He obviously thinks it's a bit OTT!
As Julie says, B+W is a must for this kind of shot. Thanks for the giggle,
Bob.

I like that the lady's head is cocked one way and the bird's the other.

Have great holidays, I'm about to leave too.... in about half an hour!

Yes, he really does look as though he is listening in to their conversation - how well spotted! I might have cropped this a little closer if it was mine. Will see if I can do a mod.
Hope your holiday destination is somewhere that provides lots of photo opportunites Richard!

Adrian, Jeff, Bob (now converted to B&W!), Ollie, Julia (sorry to miss you) and Bev - good of you all to saunter down the prom with me, especially as it's so hot!
Bev - thanks for the mod. You wouldn't believe how many times I've cropped, uncropped, cropped again and then uncropped again this picture! You are quite right that the closer cropping "homes in" on the private conversation and you're probably right that this may be the right choice in the end - I didn't want to lose the mountains or the cloud above the mythical bird's head which gave the scene a bit of context.
Choices, choices! Thank you again for the mod - much appreciated.
