The Town Square

In the United States few towns or cities have a 'town square or plaza'. I don't know enough about the subject of city planning to explain why or the historical context of such a feature of urbanization. The feature seems more common in Europe. Maybe someone can explain it all.

Well,(One reason) in the North East--- the plaza idea would be vacant during the winter, gathering Innside would be the places of choice!

Yes. But, they have cold winters in Europe as well.
