The Weaver's House

By TrevBatWCC
Racking the brains what to upload until I get back out again with the camera 🙁 Another from the Camera Club outing to Armley Mills Industrial Museum back in October 2011, taken the same time as my "The Manager's House" which I uploaded one month ago. Again, re-worked it here using the Bleach Bypass effect in the Nik Collection of plugins.
I can remember when I were a lad, my mother using a washboard, mangle and posser (a gadget for agitating the clothes in the washtub) like those to the left of the fireplace, and also my granny having a clothes dryer like that suspended from the ceiling in her scullery! 😁
(image taken 12/10/2011)

Raw image processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Nik Collection's plugins and Photoshop Elements 2020.

Thanks again to everyone for your vote & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging 😃👍

Trev 😀

Beautiful image with some fascinating antique items. It reminds me of my grandmother's house in the mountains. Very well seen Trev. Isabel GrinGrin

Great image, my Grandma had a fire like that, and used to keep the cream crackers in one of the little warm cupboards at the side to keep them crisp, my mum had a posser too and a wringer. You are bringing back memories Trev, how things have changed.

Splendid old kitchen Trev. And with some fascinating old equipment. I remember a mangle like that in my grandmother's scullery, but what is the gadget on the table by the window?

We used to have a clothes airer hanging of the ceiling like that till 1976, then we moved to a brand new house so that was the end of that.
Ceilings are just too low in new houses. So useful but very dangerous with washing dangling near the fire.
Lovely interior shot Trev, lots to look at Smile

House keeping was hard labor back in the day. I don't know how they did it and raised several children to boot!
This is a lovely nostalgic image.

So many memories of my Nana doing the washing, love that mangle.
An evocative capture Trev, the sympathetic treatment suiting the subject wonderfully.

A lovely interior shot Trev, so much of interest to look at and remember. My grandmother had a mangle like that and also a scrubbing board. They sure worked hard in those days.

So that's how they did the 'roll away' home chime screen. Presumably the projector's out of shot?
A lovely image Trevor and Leo's comment reminds me of my mother's washing machine with mangle. She hated it! 🙂
