Triora is a hill town in the Liguria region of Italy, close to the French border, best known for the witch trials carried out in the 16th century by the inquisition.
While nobody was put to death for crimes relating to witchcraft, at least 9 women died during the trial, either by suicide, from torture, or from the terrible conditions of the jails. Another 13 disappeared.
Although the town was a bright and very interesting place when we visited, I have tried to create a more dark and somber mood more suited to its history with this conversion.
