The Wood Pile

By chase
I have wanted an old mincer for ages, with this image in mind. When I spotted this one during my recent shopping spree, I just couldn't resist Wink
They used to be everywhere in charity shops for pennies but now are a little more of a collectors item.

This one is a Spong 90, made in England, so it tells me on the machine....and, it works....bonus Wink

Lit with one small handheld LED light, camera left.
An HDR image, 3 frames each 1 stop apart, combined in Lightroom, finished in Photoshop with a touch of faffing.
Again, it's dark but that was my intention.

Thanks for dropping in.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.

loike the mincer, we had one in the kitchen when oi were a nipper Wink
But we didn't make chips with it wood or otherwise Smile

Seriously, a slightly surreal touch in this one Janet; an old can and a mincer making smokin' chips out of clothes pegs. And your usual impeccable lighting and processing. I Like it.

James

PS - could you adapt the oil can to be a mayonnaise dispenser?Wink

I very much doubt it James, it would get very messy Wink

Thanks all.

Great image, very clever creation. I have a mincer just like that, I rescued it along with several other items from my grandmothers estate.

Chips anyone???? My Grandma had one of these but she didn't mince clothes pegs with or without the metal spring😱😱!!!
Funny business over now, I like your composition and the light nicely catching the oil can.....I do admire your creativity, Janet.

I've actually kept my eyes open for one of these the last while. Not for making my own toothpicks for though. Wonderful image as always Janet.

Fascinating still life with the wood chips. What are you going to mince I wonder? Yes we had one when I was a kid. Fun things, different metal discs for different size mince-holes. Very retro 🙂

My mother used a mincer exactly like this! Well, I used it mostly, getting the job of feeding chunks of meat in the top and turning the handle and delighting in seeing the mince come out! 😃 Never minced wooden clothes pegs though (we had exactly the same pegs too!), but like this idea 😃👍

Oh that looks like fun - I can feel a spate of minced subjects coming on.
The green handle adds the colour punch.

The mincer brings back memories, a beautifully composed still life image Janet. I do like the way the light just catches the green handle.
