The World of James Herriot

By Hurstbourne
23 Kirkgate, Thirsk, North Yorkshire is now a museum but was where Mr. J.A. Wight ran a veterinary practice alongside Mr. D V. Sinclar. Alf Wight is the world-famous author of the James Herriot books and the building you see is the place where he lived and worked during the 1940’s. The entrance to the practice was by the red door next to the blue plaque and was called Skeldale House. Beautifully restored to its 1940’s glory this museum is well worth a visit.
