The World's Edge

By mac
This is an exhibition on at The Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.
“The World’s Edge” by photographer Thomas Joshua Cooper.
He has travelled the World making pictures of the most extreme parts and locations surrounding the Atlantic Oceans. The only artist to have made pictures at the two poles and both polar circles.
Sone were interesting, but V3 and V5, would you have put them into a photographic exhibition? V3 looks like a blank sheet of photographic paper but read V4, the effort required to obtain it!

Nice set of shots. My favourite is the lines and the positioning of all the elements in this one! Smile

never heard of him
it appears that "he worked with an 1898 Agfa field camera and specially made photographic plates, often risking his life to create extraordinary, meditative landscape photographs.."
p.s. a fine and interesting set, Ian, thanks for sharing

Interesting series. Some more interesting than others.
Is it just me or is landscape photography gradually morphing into "getting to the wildest/hardest place" photography ? Unless you have an active volcano, a desert or an iceberg in the shot it's not worth the effort ?
I think I'll stick to street photos, the travelling is less expensive !

I only go to exhibitions to photograph other attendees, according to mrs. salty...
She may well have a point.Wink

Excellent set Ian. I'm glad that Mr Cooper took those images, I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed doing it.

An interesting set
That’s such an interesting set Ian. The effort required to take V3 is staggering. Rather him than me. 😉

The cyic inme says you need to make up a good story to promote or justify some images.
I'd like to know why you need steadying when all you're photographing is pure white, it's not as though there's any detail to record...
