The York Yuletide Express

By fentiger
Yesterday morning steam locomotive 60009 Union of South Africa passed through March Railway Station pulling The York Yuletide Express from Norwich to York and stopping at March to take on water and pick up passengers. TWO images here of it approaching the station.

60009 Union of South Africa is an LNER Class A4 steam locomotive built in Doncaster in 1937. Originally named Osprey, it is one of six surviving Gresley A4s, currently operational and mainline certified.

I opened V1 and wished there was more space allowed for the height of the steam - V2 fulfilled that wish. So V2 for me.
Nice toning. Warmer sepia can look muddy, but this conveys cold sunlight very well.

Once again, mrswoolybill has said exactly what I was thinking: definitely V 2 for me and for the very reasons she gives.
Love these kind of shots of the steam days and V 2 is an absolute beauty, the sepia toning so nicely done too.

Very good light in these captures Albert. I'm most partial to v2 - the portrait format suits this very well, allowing lots of space for that wonderful steam.
