They didn't all return

By Arvorphoto
For me a more poignant image than a previous similar upload, as was all too often the case during WW, airmen, young men, would head out over the North Sea never to return. The RAF lost a total of 55,573 killed out of a total of 125,000 aircrew: a death rate of almost 45% percent. 8,403 were wounded in combat & 9,838 became prisoners of war.

Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, East Kirkby

Many thanks to those who have taken the time to look, vote and comment on on my recent uploads.
And a very big thank you to those who have given UA's on my uploads

Very very much appreciated

Having just finished reading a book on the Berlin raids the courage of these young men, and most were young, to go out night after night knowing the odds, was incredible. Most of us could be brave for one trip or two, but to do so many......

A great picture.

It's amazing how BIG they look sat there ... we once got invited to have a look around inside Just Jane and were amazed at how cramped and difficult it is to get around her ... and that was in daylight on the ground with no-one trying to kill us!
