they grow up too fast...

Childhood is a very fluid concept in much of this world....

This is one from the archives, Laos 2009, but it still evokes emotion each time I look at it so I'd like to share it with you. The older can't have been much more than 5 or 6 and was busy collecting straw and wood for her house, and all the while trying to look after her newborn baby sister or brother... and dealing with it so well. That was what left the lasting impression - her ability to take it all on board and just get on with it.

An excellent shot that sums up the difference between first and third world life for so many people. Tends to put our economic woes in perspective.
