Thinking About It

So confession time !
This is a self portrait (tripod and time delay) and is by the Seine just outside Rouen; a little suburb called Le Grand Quevilly. The reason for this was that this was precisely the spot where my Dad used to sit by the Seine when he lived there until he was 21. I had taken some of his ashes there to throw into the River and I was just in reflective mode.

GE note - the near silhouette would make a strong picture anyway - set against the formal structure of straight lines it's even more effective. The unkempt path suggests some decay and nostalgia, remembering past times. Reading the text shows this is precisely as intended - a picture constructed around an idea. Very successfully indeed.
