Thornton Force

By jamesgrant
Last weekend I went "up t'Dales" for the first time photographically.

My first port of call was Ingleton Falls after being recommended Thornton Force as a must shoot, I did a little research and it looked great and a sure bet for the dull weather which was "predicted".

However, it would seem the forecast was wrong with a day of blue skies and fantastic large clouds passing quickly, it seemed most of the rain had fell during the night before.

This did however create it's own problems, the spray nearer river level was impossible to work in and after many cleans of the filters I decided to retreat and give up the classic view of the falls and headed higher up hill.

Initially I did like how the shot was a little different and allowed you to see the surrounding landscape, which you don't see in most shots especially as the surrounding landscape struck me as not what I expected when I visited.

A lovely capture. So nice to see Thornton with some 'Force' for a change - tends to be a trickle when I'm there!

A different shot of the falls - I went for the most usual some time ago (see pf) - but I like this. Great detail in the foreground waterand nice tones in the surrounding hills. The water is not quite totally blurred which again adds a uniqueness to the shot (would like to see this POV whith a slightly longer exposure).

Regards

Ian
