Award Shortlist

Thornton Force

By WeeGeordieLass
First I'd like to say thank you very much to Dave (Ugly), Bill (Rookery) and Steve (Stiobhan) for their User Award on my last shot Ribblehead Viaduct. It's very encouraging and spurs me on to improve my photography.

I took this shot at Thornton Force which is part of Ingleton Falls in the Yorkshire Dales.

There is so much potential for great compositions in that place and at first I didn't know where to point my lens. I decided that sometimes less is more and isolated a small area which I thought would give more impact.

My priorities were finding a good composition and controlling the highlights, and I hope you feel I've succeeded in both.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look.

Lovely composition and capture, Elaine, really shows the force and movement in the water, with just the right amount of motion blur Smile

Very nice, forceful, yet somehow soothing capture.

Nice balance in the composition - for me ( a dinosaur) there is just a tad too much blur. Although a small amount of blur helps movement enormously, I don't think I've ever seen a waterfall that looks a bit 'milky" in the real world - but my eyes may be getting old!

I thought from the title it would be a new chocolate bar, Elaine.

Another great milky upload instead!
