The important thing is to separate the 'dad' thoughts from the good ones.
If that doesn't work and things still feel a bit wobbly, put a piece of wood under the desk's leg.

I suspect that 'Dad' is a typing error ..... but it doesn't half add another element to the story and for me that just tips it over the edge into award territory.
