Ok,so here is a colour image for consideration.
The dress is black velvet and cream, the fan is cream,so are her gloves.
I see some detail in the dress where her hands are, otherwise the velvet has absorbed the velvet does.
There may be a wee over exposed bit on the strap, top right ( her right) shoulder, other than that I can't see anything overdone.
Skin tones look ok to me,I see her sun-tan mark on her right arm.

Bg is almost grey, slightly darker to her left as the light source is from her right.
No jiggery pokery with textures, nothing added, nothing taken away.

Some very simple editing,a crop, levels & a drop of sharpening.

Not the best image I have taken of Paige & there are a few flaws I would need to address if I were to print this, but I need to know how you see it,colour wise in particular...same as me or different.I know it's difficult, but, you can cope Tongue

Thanks for taking your valuable time to help,I have allowed mods if you feel the urge to play.

Hi Janet - I see it pretty much as you describe. I can also see the suntan mark on Paige's left arm, so a good depth of detail in skin tone even where the light starts to blend into shade. It may even take a bit of extra lightening/contrast too, without any harm, as it seems just a wee bit 'flat'.

Paige is growing into a fine young lady, Janet - so very much like our own granddaughter of the same age...

Just think it looks a little flat overall, uploaded a mod. Just a little tweak in levels

Thanks all.
Yes,I left off the contrast this time,on purpose tbh,so I'm really pleased that you have commented on that bit.I do like that mod Les,thank you.
A difficult age Mike.....growing up is hard these days.

I too see it as you describe. Looking at the two versions I happen to prefer the lower contrast of the original.

Colours spot on and very well handed with extremes of black and cream.

Lol but she looks bored Jan, obviously the bribery worked to get her to sit for you but methinks more sweeties or pound coins are required in order to get her to engage more with the camera. Skin tones nice and natural looking and lighting on the face very pleasing. I see detail in the black material below the waist but just a black shape above the waist. Like Les I think it all looks a little flat and I much prefer his mod with that extra bit of oomph. The plain background seems to suck some life out of the shot.

Lol Dave, she was so fed up at this stage, not an image I would really post here but I do need to get this machine going as I want it.
Nope no texture on the big this time,I wanted to see the colours in their entirety.
Black velvet isn't the most interesting material to work with unless using it for a big,it absorbs so much of the light.
Thanks everyone for your input on my last couple of images,I do appreciate your words, advice and effort.
Now it's time to dust off the camera and look for something new to inspire me.

I like the gentle contrast of the original post. The only anomaly is the rather orange arm...

The boredom expression is at extreme irony level.

For once I think the flat look reflects Paige's mood / look.

The bit that doesn't quite sit right is the Black at the back of her dress jars a bit with me for the background - Either a white or black backdrop would be more fitting - think the grey may be why some have said it looks a bit flat. - If that makes sense
