Well spotted and great focusing too. I like the way the light is shining though the hairs on the plant and the feelers. Good shot.

Wow! Can't believe this one has been so well received! I really just put it up as a bit of weekend amusement!

I hope it has been a source of entertainment for those of you that had a chance to look!

There's a plague of these insects around here at the moment, so it was actually very easy to find this shot, although they move around a great deal in their orgies!

It is quite common to see the males competing like this for the females, rather like Saturday night at the local!

Thanks for all your comments!

A Bugs Life! Out of all the insect pictures I see, this is one of the best. A study in entymological mis understanding! Or perhaps there was no intention of procreation, but they were all tired, low on fuel, and that tiny flower head was the only landing spot for miles around. Maybe. Smile Click.

Simon, thanks for your kind comment!

I think you are probably right, especially as these insects are more or less in plague numbers devouring most of the remaining native flowers at the end of Spring. I could have no doubt taken four or five on a plant if I had bothered to look around a bit. But three seemed to be more identifiable as the typical competition for space!

Glad this one made the jaw drop Anne!

Cheers,

Tim
