Through the Anglo-Saxon doorway

By Kaxxie
Hi everyone.

The beautiful ruins of St. Patrick’s Chapel on the cliff tops in Heysham. It is thought to date back to the 8th century. It’s a Grade 1 listed building and one of the oldest religious buildings in the North West of England. I love the view of Morecambe Bay through the doorway. The stone work is rather beautiful too.

Thank you for all the votes and comments from yesterday. As always they’re greatly appreciated.

Take care

Oh you have hit the spot today Karen! I have so many memories of family and friends wrapped up in this landscape. Lived at Ulverston for a short time in childhood, Auntie at Arnside, numerous holidays and visits...

I love images that speak to me and yours most certainly has. Thank you.

Have a lovely day.

This is delightful and inspiring Karen, I love old chapels with a doorway view, Glastonbury Tor has similar, as do others. This one is magical, nice to visit it in mind here 👍

Excellent, Karen!
I love the composition, framing, foreground detail and the way the arch draws the viewer to those beautiful, distant hills.

It was a bit draughty so I have done a mod.

A terrific shot of the beautiful view as well as the lovely wall.
You have the wall and the background both is excellent focus. Excellent work.

Oh Ivor your mod has really made me laugh. You’d have to build a roof & three other walls to stop the draft!!! Love it.

Know it well Karen! and you've done good job with the composition. I like that you have left the space on the left of the ruin to provide the continuity of the view through the doorway. I think your original just edges it Tongue
