Through the Spray

By baileysmith
A wet weekend at Oulton Park, the first time I'd shot in the rain and wanted to convey the level of spray and water on the circuit as opposed to a pure feeling of speed. Would be interested to hear your views on this.
Thanks, Matt

What a great shot. Excellent capture and full of action. There's plenty going on and the rain spray really does add extra atmosphere.

I think you have achieved your aim with this shot. The wheel spray is reinforced by the spectator's umbrellas in the background. Exceptional detail on the lead car despite the conditions. Good shooting

Thanks Phil, I did some sharpening in PS on the lead car just to add to the detail.

Works well, the lead car stands out nicely and the spray and spectators umbrella's define the conditions. My only minor niggle is that I would have liked to see some motion in the wheels, great shot all the same though.

Thanks Darren, yeah I think I might have bottled the lower shutter speeds! Ha, still working on my techniques so will certainly bear that in mind for future.

Cheers, Matt

Works for me... still has a good sense of speed and action in the rain Smile

This is my favourite out of your collection. Great shot in atrocious conditions. I just love the lead car having his window down!!!!!

PS Would i get away with a 55-200mm lens at Oulton Park?

Yeah you would, depending where you were thinking of standing. The most recent shots from Oulton were taken with my 55-170mm lens. If you're ever thinking of heading down let me know and I can give you a few spots to try out where your lens will give you plenty of range to get good shots.

Cheers and thanks for commenting, Matt
