Timber

By ColleenA
Every place we docked in New Zealand had heaps of timber ready to be shipped to China. I thought close up images would make a nice abstract
Many thanks for your votes comments and user award from Lillian, all much appreciated
Melbourne is in lock down now with only essential shops open. We are fortunate to only have 7 dead so far but we have over 1000 infected people. Our hospitals seem to be organised and coping, I知 really grateful to be living here and no longer in South Africa.

You wonder why as you'd have thought in the furthest reaches of China there must be large forests. Also you have to question why reduce forestation in NZ as remove trees increases flood and landslide risk. Seems an odd decision in this day and age.

BTW a great photo, having had my rant above Smile

My first impression was why are so many pencils stored in this way but then immediately realised my mistake.
Apart from the mass of timber, I really like the banding effect across this image.

This is an impressive array. I didn't realize that New Zealand was part of the forest industry. I wonder what kind of wood it is, and what China does with it. Making paper would be my first guess.

Makes a great abstract - I used to have a picture with logs and flowers in my hall.
These look very young trees.

There was a mix of logs, some were long and thin others were huge in circumference. Couldn稚 get to speak to anyone about them as we were forbidden to go near the logs for safety reasons.

Looks like a big timbering industry in NZ.

It looks like Australia has managed Covid better than we are here in the US. No surprise.
