Times Square

By gajewski
I tried to get a sense of the chaos of New York's Times Square on New Year's Eve. I kept taking blind shots -- holding the camera over my head while shooting.

It seems that people from all over the world manage to make their way there -- including a bus driver who navigated his red double deck London bus into the crowd.

All those 'happy' people! Well taken, Walter and, although I live in London, not my idea of fun. You had to buy a 10 ticket to get down to the fireworks on the Thames this year.

You achieved your intention brilliantly and the guy in the flat cap makes a great focal point for this shot. A very good result.

Think you've captured the hustle and bustle perfectly. The eye immediately drawn to the center.

A great shot Walter. Your focus on the guy with the cap, and overall soft DOF, emphasizes the size and density of the crowd. We were there the evening before, and I have never had a desire to be in Times Square on New Year's Eve.

Now that I double checked my EXIF information, I see that this was actually taken on December 27th, 2014. We watched the New Year's Eve ball drop from our hotel room. It does get rather hectic out there in the streets -- although the NYPD keep things under control.
