A lovely memory lane for me , Richard ! - In my old hometown Pori in western Finland we had 4 or 5 Trabants in the sixties . My friends father sold them then , but it was not a very popular car. For instance the brakes were mechanical and not very good indeed . Luckily the speed of the car was not very great either - But very good there are some of them left. - Jukka.

Produced in the old NSU Motors factories while their opposite number in the west went from strength to strength.
There was interest in them in 1989 when the wall came down. I think they even got a mention on Top Gear (clearly not for their performance).
