Trams from the 1800's

By PhilT2
More trams from Crich Tramway Village
Lead image and V1 are of a horse drawn tram dating from around 1890
V2 is a Blackpool and Fleetwood tram built in 1898 and operational until 1938.
V3 Blackpool Tramways no. 4 is a truly historic tramcar, having been built for Britainís first electric street tramway, which opened on 29th September 1885. The short line was approximately two miles in length and ran along the promenade. The power for the tramcars was provided by means of a conduit system whereby the electric current was carried in a specially constructed channel under the roadway instead of using overhead power lines.Operational until 1905.
V4 is a Leamington and Warwick horse drawn tram built in 1881 and operational until 1905. It was then converted into a dwelling (as shown here). In 1984 it was rescued put into storage and is awaiting restoration.
