TRASCENDIT LUX

By markina
I made this photo during EASTER VIGIL mass in wich the prist lights the PASCAL candle. At this time the small church is in a compleate darkness, the priest enters with the candle and then the people starts tolight their candles with that light...here is that moment.

A real moment to record. I appreciate the difficulty and conditions and you have done very well. Just could have done to be a bit brighter still in places . Might be able to lift it with the dodge tool but might loose contrast and that would ruin it.

super shot...tried to bring out the girl in the bg, but it's a step too far (unless you're prepared to accept the noise Smile) Grin

Very well taken, in very difficult conditions. On first seeing this, I thought maybe the hand and candle on the left were an intrusion and better without them, concentrate on the priest and the main candle alone. But reading your narrative I understand that the worshiper's candle is an essential part of the story. The candle light reflected in the priest's eye is a big bonus.
You have a steady hand, assuming that this was hand-held. I think my instinct would have been to use a larger aperture, lower ISO, but that wouldn't have given such a clean outline on sleeve, face and candle.
The image is very nearly mono - I might try a straight b&w, with a little more contrast, but very little. This is about light shining very gently in darkness.

Nice shot, steady hands, nice timing. I was surprised to see the person behind in cats mod, an awkward way to hold the candle!

I uploaded a mod to leave a little more space on the left, and a couple of tweaks.
