Travelling by Train

By fentiger
Here we have two images taken on a rainy day on Wednesday at Sheringham railway station in Norfolk:

No. 1 is waiting to depart;

No. 2 is a train passing through where I have tried to convey what we would see as it flashes by.

Do you have a preference?

EDIT: At Moira's request I have uploaded a totally mono version of No. 2

I love them both - the expression on the faces in v1 says it all! Good old England in the summer! SmileSmile

I prefer V1. Great Framing of the 2 main figures in that window and don't they look glum! Superb colours too.

I'd really like to see V2 all b&w, the two background profiles are the main interest for me in it as it stands, they have almost a Cubist look; without selective colour I suspect that the foreground figure would complete a semi-abstract threesome rather nicely.

I did consider a totally mono version but was not sure it would achieve what I wanted however I have given it a go at at No. 3. At the moment the jury is still out on which I prefer.

Thanks for the pm, yes V3 works best for me. There's a harmony and balance between the three figures in the window that is lost in V2.
I think if this was mine I'd try to tone down the foreground highlights (fabric I think, plus his forearm), they distract attention from the faces.

Two great images to convey the weather ? Albert. I prefer both in colour. The man in the train looks pleased that he is insideWinkWinkWinkWink Version one looks like most people feel on a rainy day.

It was my Grandaughter Sara's 18th Birthday on Sunday and the rain came down in torrents . She was introducing me to her friends and said that I used my camera to get her in so many different poses . I suggested she go outside with an umbrella and pretend to be a weather girl and it would also convey what it was like on her birthday! No way Grandma! so that nailed that image on the head SmileSmileSmileSmilexxx
