Treasure from the past

By Mynett
Good morning all.

I am not sure about this one it was not meant for going on here - the story is - my friend has had her treasure from the past (a teddy) sent in for repair at a toy hospital, and while talking about it to her, I remember my old doll who used to say "Ma Ma" and she suggested that I take photo'w of her to see if the lady doing the repairs on Teddy could help get a replacement "ma ma" . So I took a few photo's with the mechanism showing and this one just to try out the camera settings.

I have given it a bit of a canvas effect as she is showing some serious signs of age.... bless, she did belong to my Auntie who is 15 years older than me... so is getting towards her pension years now.... lol

Her legs and arms are now very loose too so my friend has sent me the details of some doll hospital in Wales, so we will see about getting her repaired. I do not think she is of any value other than sentimental.

As a little girl I used to love making her clothes, and when my mother gave her back to me recently she was dressed in one such outfit - so I bought a prem baby knitting pattern and made this little suit for her.

Anyway - no new material so this will have to be it for today. Hope it brings in some memories of your old treasures too

happy days

Linda xx Sorry if I am not able to leave comments, I am having problems staying on the site and get cut off all the time and then can't get back on so click and run for a while

sorry

I think maybe I need the name of the hospital from you for my own problems, better than the NHS
Great shot and lovely framing

Ah! How nice and especially reading that you knitted her this lovely new outfit too. That really is love! Nevr really took to dolls as a little girl but my Teddy Bear had to put up with lots of handkitted outfits! Thanks for the memory and a lovely, well composed image too.

Brings back memories of my dolly too. My Mum used to knit her all manor of outfits and I used to bath her so often her hair was terribly matted. But I loved her! Super shot, thanks for the reminder!

Like the old treatment you have given her with the framing, matches her perfectly, thanks for giving my memory a trip back into my childhood to remember my first doll for Christmas in my stocking with an orange, nuts and her change of clothes...and I thought that was 'fantastic' ...now the grandkids would be thinking that was so little to have!

I like the presentation, it puts her firmly into the past.(Lesley's Mod works well in that respect). I always find old dolls slightly disturbing, sinister even - the fact that she's in a prem baby outfit adds rather to that.

What an interesting story, Linda, hope the hospital can make her better again. A very nicely captured image, and the processing and presentation suits it well.
The foot's a little better, thank you - how is yours doing? Sorry to hear you're having connection problems...if it isn't one thing, it's another, isn't it?!!

Very good composition, I like the 'distressed' treatment, it really makes it look like an old photo.

This is so lovely and is such a reminder to us of treasure from our past. Makes me wonder whatever happened to many things. Hope you can find where to get her fixed...........Sandy

Awww...love the presentation, Linda, and also the sentimentality you have. I have stuff from ages ago (like a pair of my baby socks - don't know why!) which I keep safely.
