Tree Topper/ High Rigger

By tonyguitar
We seldom see these guys. They are usually far back in the woods beyond closed safety gates. He wears climbing tree spikes on his legs and boots. The safety loop at the waist is a help climbing and resting and a brake in a fall. Next I may post a top off image.

A dangerous job. To handle a saw under these conditions must be tough! Excellent photo!! Regards Martin

My old neighbour, he was 80 at the time, used to climb all the trees on our properties and limb them. He was an old logger and tough as nails. He was dressed just like this fellow. Unfortunately he has since passed away.

As Sandy says..." an old logger and tough as nails. " . You can just imagine the muscle condition tree surgeons like this develop Lifting and working that chain saw. Pushing severed branches clear and the mere business of climbing up and down many times each day. Seems like living on the edge to me.
I have climbed high pines to string and adjust ham radio antennae for DX radio fun. Slowly and carefully and only when fully ready. The view up on the mountain was great but you are allowed only one fall. TG
