Tree Ferns, Waratah Valley, New South Wales

The long new shoots and new-season foliage on tree ferns (Dicksonia Antarctica) in the high cloud forest protected by the South Easts National Park in New South Wales. This small grove is part of an impressive stand of tree ferns in the Waratah Valley. Many individuals stand well over 2 metres tall.

Thanks very much, Ian. Until a couple of weeks ago, the summer was unusually wet up here. In fact thunder was rumbling close by when I was taking this picture. Alas, the countryside is drying out quickly now Sad Cheers, Bob
