Trentham Falls

By nishant101
It is the same photo I uploaded yesterday. Well, when I looked back at this photo again today I realized that the sky is quite flat. To add to that, I got a couple of bird's silhouette files and added two birds to the sky.
Do provide your feedback for the same.

The inclusion of the birds is an inspired decision. Great image with lots of appeal Nishant.

The 'taken' image is often just the starting point - very cleverly developed, Nishant.

An attractive landscape and the sky isn't that flat as there is texture there. The interest is in the water and those lovely rocks, so I wouldn't be that bothered here about the sky.
However, having said that, the inclusion of the birds does take it to another level, and Nathan has summed it up perfectly.

The sky looks just right to me, with or without the birds. It has interest and texture, and it sits nicely back as a background. Which is what backgrounds should do.

There seems to be a fashion currently for the sky to compete with the land for attention. That almost always seems counter-productive to me. The balance is better when one is the real story, the other complements it.

I would crop out 20% of the right hand side of the image to a square format, this would amplify the 3 key elements here in the waterfall, red textured rocks and the birds in flight.

Works with or without the birds.

Can be a little brighter apart from the sky; the presence of sky underexposes the rock a little.

I like this, and the birds add to it.

Midtones are a bit congested and dark - I like Keith's mod for the rocks, but definitely Willie's for the tones in the trees.

George's idea for a crop would work nicely, too.

I like your composition, Nishant, and you chose an excellent viewpoint, with the left-hand rocks closer to you, showing all their colour and detail.

The image definitely needs brightening, as is borne out by the modifications.
I like the inclusion of the birds, but would still have thought this excellent without them.

Thanks all for your feedback, I have brightened up the rocks and trees a little in my final photograph. However I haven't cropped the photo and also let the birds stay Smile.
Again many thanks for the suggestions, appreciate that.
